In the mood for some taters – This quick recipe for potato fritters will make you drool! Crunchy and yummy, this dish has become a favourite snack for me and my family.
It is an easy and quick recipe which requires few ingredients – Some green veggies, salt, gram flour, and spices – That’s it, you are good to go.
Dish: Potato Fritters/Potato Chilla/Potato Pancake
Cooking time: 6-10 mins
Ingredients:
- Grated Potatoes,
- Finely chopped Onions
- Spices – Salt, cumin seeds and black pepper.
- Green chillies(optional)
- Eggs (optional) – You can choose to add egg instead of gram flour and turn it into a pancake.
Process:
- Grate some potatoes and drain water from them. You should keep the grated potatoes in cold water for 5-10 minutes to reduce starch and prevent the potatoes from turning black
- Put them in a bowl and add finely chopped onions, green chillies, salt (as per taste), some cumin seeds, and some black pepper
- Add some gram flour and mix it well with some water to form a batter. Keep it for some time and cover it with a lid.
- Fry it on a TAWA, so that you need less oil to fry and to enhance the taste. Before adding the batter into the TAWA, brush or sprinkle some oil into it,so that it doesn’t stick to the pan
- Put the batter in a circular form and flip the sides in between at intervals of 2-3 minutes. Do this till they turn golden and crunchy – your potato fritters are ready!
